Enspire Learning and the McCombs School of Business Announce Partnership to Develop Pioneering Business Ethics Simulation

The Executive Challenge will provide MBA students and senior managers with a unique learning experience to test their business, communication, and leadership skills, and their commitment to the highest ethical standards.

Austin, Texas - May 6, 2004 - Enspire Learning, a leading provider of e-learning content and simulations, and the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, one of the top business schools in the US, announced today a partnership to jointly develop an online business ethics simulation. The simulation, called The Executive Challenge, will pit teams of MBA students or business leaders against each other in a multiplayer simulated business environment.

"Enspire Learning is delighted to be an integral part of the development team of the Executive Challenge," said Enspire CEO Bjorn Billhardt. "Today's executives are under intense scrutiny to ensure their managers understand the ethical repercussions of their decision making. However, teaching ethics can be incredibly difficult: theory learned in the classroom is often forgotten by leaders faced with the enormous pressures of the business world."

The Executive Challenge will put today's and tomorrow's business leaders in a 'learn-by-doing' simulation where business ethics is learned by enabling players to make realistic business decisions. Players must balance short term company goals with long term one and make decisions that weigh their personal objectives with those of the company. These decisions will be enabled by a user-friendly simulation environment based on a deep economic model.

The development of the Executive Challenge has been spearheaded by McCombs professor Steven Tomlinson, the director of McComb's innovative Plus program, and a member of the Finance Department. Professor Tomlinson worked with a team that included noted game designer Allen Varney to develop a paper based version of the Executive Challenge. The paper version, which was sponsored by Dell Computers, HEB, and Public Strategies, Inc., was played by over 150 McCombs MBA students in the fall of 2003 and was considered a tremendous success.

The Executive Challenge business simulator will be released in the late summer of 2004.

"The Executive Challenge business simulator will be a powerful addition to Enspire's growing suite of offerings," added Billhardt. "Enspire creates the highest-quality online business education available. Our team of developers, instructional designers, multimedia artists, and producers help drive real business results to both our custom clients and to customers that purchase our off-the shelf products."
