Aspect Medical chose Enspire to create a scalable e-learning course to train existing and potential customers on the proper use of their products and provide accurate information about Bispectral Index (BIS) technology.

Challenge

The use of Aspect Medical’s Bispectral Index (BIS) technology recently outpaced their ability to provide education on their products, which measure the effects of anesthetics and sedatives on the brain. Aspect Medical desired a high-quality, interactive course to teach highly educated anesthesia professionals the proper use and monitoring of the technology. If medical professionals fully understand the technology and know how to accurately use it, Aspect would enjoy higher sales and greater customer satisfaction.

Approach

Aspect Medical chose Enspire Learning to create an innovative customer-facing e-learning course to complement Aspect’s anesthesiology product line. The course was divided into 10 sections, each dedicated to one learning objective. Dividing the course content into small sections allows learners to control their own experience by viewing sections in any order they wish. Each section contains interactive case studies and test-your-knowledge questions; the course culminates with a “Frequently Asked Questions” module to provide learners with additional information.

Enspire conducted a custom video and photo shoot under the direction of Aspect’s subject matter experts in order to accurately depict the use of BIS technology. The course also includes links to the “Monitoring Consciousness Pocket Guide” and other resources for review and further exploration.

Outcome

The course was released and met with great enthusiasm. Due to the complex content, learners expected the course to be boring and difficult to follow. Instead,
learners found that the course promotes knowledge retention by delivering content in a realistic context and in a straightforward, interactive manner.
