End-of-Life Nursing

Client: American Assocation of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)
Problem: It is often up to nurses providing end-of-life care to help ease the transition for both patients and their loved ones. In order to provide nurses with this necessary real-world experience, the AACN, the world’s largest specialty nursing organization, sought to create an e-learning course containing believable, relatable characters and plausible hospital situations in which critical-care nurses could both learn about end-of-life care and apply their knowledge.
Solution: Enspire created a virtual hospital in which critical-care nurses become part of the staff and deal with several end-of-life care situations. To emphasize the gravity of these situations and provide an added effect of realism, Enspire used television-quality video and actors to provide background on each patient and their families. Learners also review patients’ files before entering their rooms, monitor patients’ symptoms, and provide assistance based on their assessments. A mentor character guides the learners initially, but then allows them to explore the hospital and apply their knowledge independently, thereby raising their confidence.
Virtual Team Management

Client: Global ERP Software Company
Problem: This software company’s business continues to grow worldwide, and with that growth new challenges arise. The company sought a way to teach virtual team management skills to a multicultural, transglobal audience of project managers.
Solution: Enspire developed a curriculum of six interactive modules to teach their project managers the principles of coordinating and managing distributed teams. The custom-developed curriculum is composed of general project management overviews and specific virtual management learning objectives, with the entire curriculum framed by a narrative. Each of the courses covers a separate managerial topic and culminates with an interactive simulation activity on that topic.
Personal Finance for Students

Client: Junior Achievement
Problem: JA is an international nonprofit organization with a wide array of programs that teach young people about financial literacy. A handful of local JA offices have built brick-and-mortar Finance Parks, which serve as on-site capstone experiences wherein students receive new identities and make a month’s worth of budgeting decisions based on their imagined incomes and family obligations. However, few local JA offices have the resources to construct these physical Finance Parks.
Solution: Using the in-person JA Finance Park capstone as a model, Enspire developed a dynamic digital experience in which students are asked to put their learning to the test. Each student receives a random life situation that includes a career, salary, family information, and tax obligations. They must then determine their net monthly income, visit a series of stores, purchase items appropriate for their lifestyle, and balance their budget in a timely manner.
Healthcare Consumer Education

Client: CIGNA
Problem: CIGNA, a leading health benefits company, wanted to promote consumer healthcare empowerment and support consumer advocacy. CIGNA teamed with Enspire Learning to create the “It’s Time to Feel Better” website to provide the
knowledge and tools individuals need to find the healthcare coverage and services that are right for them.
Solution: CIGNA and Enspire also created a series of online learning modules that weave education and entertainment to teach the basics about the healthcare system. The modules address the politics of healthcare, how health insurance works, and best practices for consumers. Users guide a personalized avatar through the course, meeting virtual characters, exploring information, and playing games and simulations that augment the content. The sleek multimedia style coupled with valuable healthcare information drives visitors to complete the modules.
