Two for Tuesday: Failure and Software Sims

1) Too often, elearning courses attempt to protect learners from making mistakes. The concern is that if the designer presents a problem that is too difficult, too open to interpretation, or can be solved in too many different ways, the learner will become frustrated and check out. Actually, failing is a wonderful way to learn, and here are 7 TED Talks that illustrate the point.

2) This post on software simulations is an oldie but goodie. It categorizes three types of software simulations: awareness training, full training, and performance support. Revisit this post before you create your next software simulation.
