Two for Tuesday: Risk and Blaming Content

1) Karl Kapp outlines the importance of placing learners at risk in his latest blog post. We’ve seen the power of raising a learner’s heart rate with techniques including timers, point systems, or a simple “game over” state. 2) What do you do with dry content? That’s the challenge addressed by Jane Bozarth in her post titled Don’t Blame the Content. One of Bozarth’s best tips is to start by stepping away from the computer. Think about real workplace application. Talk to end users and SMEs. Maybe even pick up a pencil (whatever that is) and start free-writing ideas. The important takeaway: don’t blame your content. Figure out how to make it interesting and engaging.
